Associate Accountant

Loewen Kruse is looking for an Associate Accountant to join our team. Whether you are a recent accounting graduate eligible for the CPA Professional Program or an experienced accountant already enrolled, this role gives you the chance to grow quickly in a supportive, people first environment.

As a key member of our team, you will gain hands on experience in accounting, assurance, and tax across our two core sectors: owner-managed businesses and non-profit organizations. This is meaningful work that helps you build real confidence early in your career.

We are a growing mid-sized firm with offices in Burnaby near Metrotown and in Langley in Walnut Grove, and this position can be based in either location. Although the start date is flexible for the right candidate, we are hiring with a target start date of September 2027.

At Loewen Kruse, we simplify the complex because important work deserves a steady partner. This means that great work does not require late nights, grey suits, or dated technology. It comes from people who care. You will learn fast, work with clients who value what you bring, and be supported by teammates and leaders who answer questions openly and guide without micromanaging. If you want to build your skills, feel supported while you grow, and have a life outside the office, you will feel at home here.

In this role, your responsibilities can include:

  • Working directly with clients to prepare corporate financial statements and tax returns from start to finish.
  • Participating in teams to complete review and audit assurance engagements, with many opportunities to take on increasing responsibility.
  • Preparing personal tax returns and liaising with CRA on behalf of clients.
  • Preparing other compliance returns as needed, including trust (T3), payroll (T4), and investment income (T5) summary returns as part of the overall tax planning work with clients.
  • Providing ongoing support to clients on an as-needed basis.

You are a great match if you:

  • Are pursuing or planning to pursue your CPA and want the type of exposure that helps you learn quickly.
  • Appreciate clear guidance, patient mentors, and an open-door environment where asking questions is a normal part of your day.
  • Value balance and want a career that grows alongside the life you want to live.
  • Feel energized by variety, impact, and working across different client types and file types.
  • Are driven to do exceptional work, seeing the direct impact it makes on both your clients and your career.

Why should you want to work at Loewen Kruse?

Because at LK, you get more than a job. You get work that matters and people who care.

Here is what that looks like in your day-to-day experience:

Work That Fits Your Life

Balance is a real part of how we work. Average overtime is only 15 minutes per week, Summer Fridays off give you more weekend time, the office closes over Christmas, and our compensation and benefits help you live well. Between our flexible schedules and competitive compensation and benefits package, you can build a career and have room for life outside of it.

Growth By Doing

You will not sit on the sidelines. You will work across disciplines, gain hands-on experience, and see your progress quickly. With CPA support (including covering the cost of module fees, annual CPA dues and exam support), an in-house student mentor, learning sessions, and leaders who guide without micromanaging, your growth is steady and intentional.

Tech That Works For You

You will not struggle with outdated systems. We use modern, cloud-based tools and automation that reduce busywork and help you focus on real learning and impact.

A Team That Has Your Back

You will join a team that values connection and care. Questions are welcome, support is real, and recognition is a regular part of our culture. With open doors at every level and a foundation of trust and integrity, you will never feel like you are navigating your work alone.

Technical requirements include:

  • Bachelor’s degree and all admission requirements completed for the CPA Professional Program. Eligibility to enroll in the first CPA Professional Program module by September 2027 is required.
  • Strong grasp of the English language, in oral and written forms.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and prior customer-facing work experience is strongly preferred.
  • Strong comprehension of technology and ability to learn new programs. Experience in accounting or bookkeeping contexts, or experience with bookkeeping software such as Quickbooks or Sage, are excellent but not required.

Salary:

We value building trust and when it comes to compensation, that starts with transparency. For this role, the salary range is between $55,000-$60,000 per year, in addition to a generous and comprehensive benefits package.

Interested candidates are encouraged to submit their cover letter, resume, and transcript to careers@loewenkruse.com. We look forward to hearing from you!
