Loewen Kruse was founded in the 1980’s in Vancouver, BC. Now a team of twenty-five, the firm collaborates from offices in Burnaby and Langley and supports clients throughout British Columbia and beyond.
Our Leadership
Mark Loewen
Mark obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA) from University of Winnipeg and went on to earn his CA designation in 1995. As a student, Mark articled with his uncle’s mid-sized CA firm after which he then became the Director of Student Education for the Institute of Chartered Accountants of BC (ICABC). In 2000 he and his brother succeeded a retired partner in continuing their own firm, Loewen Kruse, Chartered Accountants.
Mark is the Administrative Partner and his area of practice revolves around working with owner-managed and family-owned businesses.
Mark is married with 4 children and has an active leadership role at Willingdon Church, where he attends. His hobbies include spending time with his family, cooking and travelling. Besides being an accountant, firm partner, and family man, he’s also the resident comedian at Loewen Kruse.
Mike Loewen
Michael obtained his Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) from the University of British Columbia in 1992. He articled with PWC and received his CA designation in 1995. In 2000 he joined his brother in succeeding a retired partner and continuing their own firm, Loewen Kruse, Chartered Accountants.
Michael is the Managing Partner and his area of practice includes Charities and Not-For-Profit Organizations.
Michael is married with 2 children and is active in his community. When he’s not busy keeping his 1963 Lincoln in prime condition, you can find him coaching soccer, golfing, and spending time with his family.
Jonathan Gibson
Jonathan Gibson is a tax partner at Loewen Kruse, supporting the firm’s corporate clients with effective tax and business strategies and supporting firmwide services for charities and not-for-profit organizations. Before joining the Loewen Kruse team ten years ago, Jonathan spent several years in the Seattle area supporting the major donor fundraising team for an international charity. Jonathan has also served as the treasurer and director of a growing and innovative social enterprise in Vancouver’s downtown eastside community. In addition to obtaining the CPA designation, Jonathan holds an honours degree in business administration and has completed CPA Canada’s three-year In-Depth Tax Program.
Curtis Braun
Curtis is a partner at Loewen Kruse CPAs supporting charities and non-profits with financial statement and related governance services. Before joining Loewen Kruse in 2019, Curtis worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers for five years, auditing a variety of private and public companies.
Curtis obtained his CPA designation after achieving a place on the National Honour Roll on the common final exam. Curtis currently serves on the board for the Canadian Centre for Christian Charities and chairs the audit committee.
